How to maintain your child's Natural hair

Oh I Love love love hair! Lol  (Well, who doesn't) hair adds beauty to your face hence the adage "A woman's pride is in her hair"
and I'm sure you know that no matter the texture of our children's hair it is good for us to groom it for them, everywoman wants her daughters hair to be shiny, black, thick long and curly, well it won't come naturally even if some people are lucky to have such hair it still requires maintenance. However it does not matter the texture of your daughter's hair the most important thing is for us to cater for it.

Our curls are very prone to breakage due to chemical usage and weather conditions so for my girls sake I had to do a lot of researches and trials, I also found out that food also play an important role to the texture of our hair, as they say you are what you eat. Whilst some naturalists swear by their little ones hair care regimens and products, there are some vitamins that control hair growth which we can introduce into our diet to achieve overall wellness of the body and hair, so let try some of these foods and let's see what the results will be like.

Cinnamon for increase  in blood flow to the scalp, add some cinnamon to your children's oatmeal, cereal etc

Walnut as hair shield is rich in omega 3 fatty acids vitamin E and Biotin which protect your hair cells and block harmful U.V Rays from the Sun. Hmmm, some of you might say that walnut?! Yes it's that walnut, a handful a day can increase your cutie's natural hair.

Sweet potatoes which is packed with beta carotene which is an awesome antioxidant which convert
this nutrient to to vitamin A which manufactures all of the natural essential oil. Proper moisture keeps your hair from dandruff and scalp dryness.

Eggs helps your scalp breathe, eggs are full of selenium, zinc, sulfur and protein, these elements help bring oxygen to your hair follicle and prevent alopecia. Eating one egg daily will keep oxygen flowing through your child's scalp. If your child does not like eggs, you can substitute with chicken, pork, beef of fish.

Guava prevents hair breakage, one cup of guava has 377 milligrams of Vit c which is more than four times daily recommended amount. ( I love guava hmmm yummy!)
Others are:
Iron fortified cereal/meal reduces shedding, legumes for strong strands, spinach for circulating oils and the list goes on.

Now for hair maintenance; have you guys noticed something lately?  Everyone is wearing a natural hair look, our children should not be an exception, one of the the major things that causes hair breakage are chemical exposure, lack of deep conditioning, constant washing, combing and braiding.

Reduce the the constant exposure to relaxer and texturizing agents, if you are worried about the thickness of your daughters hair there is detangler and best of all water; sprinkle water and style as desired. The more you relax your child's hair the more you suck the life out of it. You need to also use more of natural product to deep condition her hair, use more of olive or coconut oil, avocado pear, eggs,( without the yolk) Shea butter, honey the list is endless. At least condition the hair once a month, braid the hair once or twice a month so you don't get to comb too often, (the thicker the hair the larger the comb) all these will give the hair time to groom.
The use of rubber band can also cause potential damage to the hair when rubber/ elastic band are too tight it tugs at the edges of the hair, if you must use them you first soak them in olive/ coconut oil. It's also not advisable to expose the hair to a lot of heat like hair dryer etc, and if you must, keep the setting  at a sparingly low level you can also apply a heat protectant before using the dryer this reduces the risk of permanent heat damage to the hair. So there you have it! Let's see our work pay off at the end.
