List of well established Private Schools in Abuja

There are several schools in Abuja, Abuja is majorly an administrative hub and parents have to enrol their kids in schools as early as their maternity leave is over hence a lot of schools spring up every now and then, from the crèche all the way to secondary level.

I would like to give parents and potential parents the opportunity here by listing some of the well known schools in Abuja to guide you in making the most suitable choice for your ward. The list may not capture every school for the sake of space but i will try to mention the oldest and  the most established private school.

AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL DURUMI:

Though this school is expensive, its for the high and mighty of the FCT i.e. diplomats, expartriates and politicians  alike. It's been around for a long time, well established, strictly offering American curricculum. The school is located in a good serenity, a quiet part of Durumi where there are no side attractions with tight security.... and the staff? you should not be found wandering away from your duty post because the welfare of the children is the top priority. (It has to be,after i pay that kind of money)  You will get what you pay for at the end of the day.

INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY SCHOOL JABI:

This school has been existing since in the 90's,  though it's expensive the learning environment is conducive and serene. Just like American International School, you will find the children of diplomats, expatriates etc mainly in this school and the school fees is a cut throat. What i also like about this school is that it is God centered so if you are considering this school be sure that your child's good morals will be top notch. Well established school i must say, if you can afford it why not?.

NIGERIAN TURKISH INTERNATIONAL WUSE II (DAY/BOARDING) :

Nigerian Turkish International School is located in a busy part of town, it is located by banex plaza in wuse II. You would think the traffic in and around Aminu Kano crescent might be an occasional nuisance to learning but the environment is conducive, management is competent and the teachers are qualified but the school fees are moderately high. a good and well grounded school for you to consider. This school offers both boarding and day school facilities.

   THE CENTAGON SCHOOL MAITAMA:

This is another top private school that should be best left to the super rich Nigerians. I haven't had the opportunity to visit the school premises but I have driven past it on several occasions and it brings me to ask myself every time i pass if the costs is really not too high. It's been around for a few years now but it's a well established school. Check it out if you don't mind the fees the Centagon is in Maitama but that part preserved for the Super rich – diplomats, top government officials and big time contractors.
