Four year old boy kidnapped at gun point In Ogun state

Gunmen have abducted a four-year-old boy, Stephen Kanu, in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

The gunmen were said to have stormed the Kanu family home and forcibly took the victim away.
The father of the victim, Mucipay, said that the boy was busy playing with the family dog in the compound while his mother was immersed in house chores when the incident occurred.
He said the gunmen pretended to be visitors and knocked on the gate of the house and it was while the boy had gone to open the gate that he was kidnapped and forced into a waiting taxi.
The taxi, which had no number plate, was said to have driven away after the boy was forced inside.
The abductors were reported to have driven through the Moshood Abiola Way which is a few kilometres from the scene of the incident.
Neighbours were said to have pursued the car, but they were scared off by sporadic shooting by the gunmen.
The father of the victim who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone on Tuesday, said the suspected kidnappers had not made any contact with the family, 24 hours after the incident.
He added that he did not suspect anyone, because he had no issues with anyone.
He said in an emotion-laden voice, “I do not suspect anybody because I did not have any misunderstanding with anyone, neither did my wife.
“The boy was at home with his mother and other children when the incident happened. And we have yet to be contacted by anyone.”
However, he urged anyone with useful information on the whereabouts of his son to contact him or the nearest police station.
When contacted, the Ogun State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyemesi, said all police formations in the state had been notified and directed to arrest the kidnappers.
He expressed hope that the boy would soon be re-united with his family.
