Tiny Twins born at 26 weeks survived by plastic wrapping

A set of IVF twins born prematurely were not breathing after delivery, The twins born 3 and a half month earlier were so tiny that doctors put them in a bubble wrap to keep them warm.

Mia and Harrison Beckett-Longstaff measured just 20 centimetres each when they were born. Doctors had to resuscitate them despite their chance for survival was just 20% . they were saddled in bubble wraps and rushed to the intensive care where they stayed for almost 3 months.

The siblings had holes in their heart, suffered brain haemorrhages, endured blood transfusion  and contracted potentially deadly infections. but thankfully after 6 months, they are finally at home with parents AJ Beckett-Longstaff 25, and Stacey Grey 27 in Bridgewater Somerset.

There was no crying when they were born said father Mr Beckett-Longstaff.

I was expecting them to look like babies just smaller but instead they came out looking like aliens- he said. You could see their veins through their skin they were also badly bruised.
As they came out the doctors put them in these plastic wraps with tiny caps on their heads before taking them to the intensive care.

It was crazy, it was like seeing someone's dinner in a sandwich bag. I just fell apart.
The couple who also have a seven year old daughter have been trying for children for more than a year without luck so they resorted to IVF.
It was Christmas eve 2014 when they found out miss Grey was expecting a set of twins but just 26 weeks after, she started bleeding heavily and went into labour.
Miss Grey was rushed to Derriford Hospital  Plymouth where the couple were told their babies have only 20% chances of survival. On may this year at 8;30 am tiny Mia was born normally weighing 2.1 lbs, while Miss Grey was suffering from synopsis the Doctors induced her and Harrison was born 18 mins later at 8:48 am weighing 2.2lbs.

None of the babies were breathing when they were born and the parents feared the worst.
Our consultant told us that there is 75-80% chance they wouldn't make it. said Mr Beckett -Longstaff.
After seven days in labour, Stacey gave birth to Mia who wasn't breathing, they hooked all these machines up to her and after 15 mins the doctor nodded at me and gave me a thumbs up. And as he did that they said they have to bring Harrison out too because Stacey has an infection.and just like his sister, they resuscitated him too. Against all odds, the twins battled for survival and their parents never lost hope.  After 5 weeks Mia was strong enough to be transferred to Musgrove Park Hospital in Tauton, Somerset, closer to home with Harrison joining her a few days after.

A few days before their Aug 14 due date they were discharged and taken home but 24 hours later Harrison stopped breathing and was rushed back to the hospital where he spent another 2 weeks in  Intensive care.

Now 6 months, the Duo are in a more stable condition with Mia weighing 12.3lbs and Harrison at 10.13lbs. Miss Grey who was born 14 weeks prematurely herself said: when we first brought them home, we were so nervous and every little thing would worry us but now they are doing very well, we are so grateful to all the staff of Derriford and musgrove Park- its amazing.

The couple now have a Fundraising for the Keep Me Close Appeal.

They are indeed Miracle Babies. More pictures of the babies and their parents after the cut.
